In Celebration of the Camera (before digital)

There's a new exhibit at the Smithsonian on the camera and it's evolution from 1839 through the introduction of the 35mm.
Good for some perspective how the mechanics of the medium have changed.

to DNG or not to DNG

Ok, so here's a link to the September 7th 2009 episode of PhotoshopUserTV where they discuss the benefits of converting your RAW files over to DNG.  This is something you really should consider doing if you are shooting in RAW.

http://www.photoshopusertv.com/2009/09/photoshopuser-tv-episode-202-september-7-2009/

There's lots of photoshop info and tricks in these videos.  The hosts are geeks who try to yuck it up but go for the educational content not their talents as comedians.  You can also access PhotoshopUserTV via ITunes (search video podcasts).

A must see exhibit for anyone interested in photography. The book was originally published back in 1959 and was criticizied in its depiction of American Life.  It soon was recognized as a masterpiece in street photography.
This is the first showing in the NYC area of the complete body of photographs.

Check out the one day event (Sunday, October 4th) of panel discussions and lectures.
